THE HISTORY OF WHIE PINES LAKE
White Pines Lake has a storied history dating back to the late 1800s when the timber industry was booming in the Sierra Nevada region. The lake itself was initially constructed as a mill pond to supply water to the Blagen Mill, which was one of the area’s largest lumber mills at the time. The dam that formed the lake was built in 1880, and the resulting body of water was a vital resource for the mill’s operations.
As the timber industry declined in the mid-20th century, White Pines Lake transformed from an industrial hub into a recreational haven. Today, it is maintained by the White Pines Park and Recreation District, offering a peaceful retreat for visitors seeking respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
